New Jobs Coming to County

Herr-Voss Stamco

to build new plant in the Nucor Road Industrial Corridor creating up to 25 high wage jobs by 2014. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Herr-Voss Stamco up to $225,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. The company will invest in a new 20,000 sq. ft. facility and begin construction this year.

Herr-Voss Stamco is an industry leader in providing products and services to metal processing industries providing turnkey solutions from design to manufacture and start-up of coil processing equipment as well as services tailored for mills such as roll grinding, chrome plating and equipment repair/reconditioning.

Montgomery County Economic Development (MCED) hosted Lane Ralph, Deputy Director for State Senator Richard Lugar yesterday. Mr. Ralph asked MCED to arrange an itinerary for the day that would include manufacturing, agriculture and tourism with a specific request to tour the Nucor facility.

Management at Nucor Steel arranged the tour and gave us a presentation on the Nucor philosophy of putting Americans back to work and becoming a country that makes things again.I cannot say enough about the importance of our top manufacturers and legislators getting together to work on these and other issues. Of course, energy and transportation were also important subjects.

USDA Office Moving to Crawfordsville Indiana

USDA Rural Development’s Covington Area Office is moving to a new location in Crawfordsville.  Starting Tuesday, March 22, 2011, the office will be located at:

The Crawfordsville office will deliver USDA Rural Development programs and services to Benton, Boone, Clinton, Fountain, Hendricks, Montgomery, Parke, Putnam, Tippecanoe, Vermillion and Warren counties.

New Company for Nucor Road Steel Campus

                          Montgomery County Economic Development, Inc (MCED) is pleased to announce that Steel Technologies LLC (Steel Technologies) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to acquire the business and certain assets of NuPro Steel, LLC (NuPro), a wholly owned subsidiary of Nucor Corporation (Nucor).  Steel Technologies expects to complete the acquisition in April of this year, subject to the execution of a definitive purchase agreement.

Nupro is a flat-rolled steel processor located in the Nucor Road Steel Campus in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
This 230,000 square-foot operation will expand Steel Technologies’ North American platform to 24 facilities, including joint venture operations, located throughout the U.S. and Canada.
