Indiana Says ‘No Thanks’ to Cap and Trade

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

This week Congress is set to release the details of the Waxman-Markey American Clean Energy and Security Act, a bill that purports to combat global warming by setting strict limits on carbon emissions. I’m not a candidate for any office-now or ever again-and I’ve approached the “climate change” debate with an open mind. Energy & Quality of Life

The economy will eventually rebound but the big question is when and what business sectors will lead the way?

These questions present two others for our community.  Will we be ready to hit the ground running when the economy turns around, and what can we do to assist companies in retaining jobs and training people until that happens?

Fantastic Plastic - Crawford Industries

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

MCED recently had the privilege to present Crawford Industries with the Montgomery County Economic Development “Bright Star Award” for outstanding corporate citizenship.

Founded by Ken Crawford in 1959, the company was one of the first to manufacture plastic three ring binders with the capability to custom print on the plastic cover. Sounds simple enough until you find out that traditional inks will stick to polyethylene for about 5 minutes, after which they just fall right off. This problem became an opportunity and the birth of another Crawfordsville company, Norcote. It is safe to say that Crawford industries faced and conquered many challenges over the years as a leader in quality plastic sheet manufacture, information packaging and printing
