Special Event

MCED recently presented a Bright Star Award for Outstanding Corporate Citizenship to Bane Equipment of Wingate. The company is a great success story for Montgomery County.

Agri-Business and Lt. Governor Becky Skillman was on hand for their open house. She honored Phil Bane with a Distinguished Hoosier Award from the Governor for his service to the state of Indiana and also agreed to present our award to Mrs. Bane.

Montgomery County Industries

Several of our local companies are in expansion and or technical improvement mode. MCED has assisted a record number of companies with training and state incentive negotiations. The fact that many companies are investing in their local operations is very good news for the future of the community.

Our first manufacturing education fair, the Enlightened Alliance, was a hit with the companies who attended. MCED teamed up with the Tecumseh Area Partnership to provide a nice lunch and an education vendor fair at the Crawfordsville Holiday Inn. We had education and training providers from all over our region show up to display their latest products. Thanks to TAP and the WIRED grant for making that possible. Also a bid thank you to the companies who participated in this event and also our Career Days fairs at the local High Schools around the region. Many of the MCED Bright Future sponsors HoosierEmployer.com is still growing and providing local companies with access to resume forms are using this unique internet system

to increase the number of applicants for their job openings. If you are already a sponsor and want to make sure your internet link is working for you, please call MCED at 765 362-6851 or email AmberKelly@MCEDinc.com.

New members since the last MCED Extra include TDS Telecommunications out of New Richmond and Central Indiana Rubber here in Crawfordsville. Welcome to the Bright Future Project.

Collaborations

It’s been an exciting first half of “07” for new alliances forming on local and regional levels, the culture of cooperation seems to be expanding everywhere recently.

The Nucor Road Industrial Corridor Sewer District has been approved by IDEM and the district board has released the requests for proposals to private firms who will work with county officials to provide services in the steel cluster.

We were able to place another full page add for the Industrial Corridor in the June issue of the national Business Xpansion magazine thanks to our marketing alliance with Nucor and Duke Energy.

MCED is now working with the Crawfordsville Commerce Park Redevelopment Commission as they re-boot the strategic plan development for the park.  We have been making good progress on the strategic plan. MCED will be working with the city to administer the Shovel Ready designation for the park and provide the marketing strategy.

Have a great Independence Day;
Remember the patriots who made it possible and the ones who still do.
