MCED Working With Local, County and State Officials to Help Friction Holdings, LLC.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. - Concern over the future of Friction Holdings, LLC’s Crawfordsville manufacturing plant led to a meeting of community leaders on Thursday. Montgomery County Economic Development (MCED) President Monty Harris and Executive Director Bill Henderson met with Crawfordsville Mayor Charlie Coons, State Senator Phil Boots, County Commissioner Phil Bane and County Councilman Dick Chastain, all of whom are members of MCED’s board of directors, to explore community options to help retain jobs at Friction Holdings, LLC.
Harris says, “MCED along with state and local officials are committed to keeping this plant in operation. We are willing to work with present management to do whatever we can to keep the 445 jobs here in our community.”
City and county government officials are actively involved with MCED in working with the State to get all the assistance possible for Friction Holdings, LLC.
Henderson says “Our main goal is to try and keep the company here and maintain as many jobs as we can. We have a plan in place to deal with a major layoff or closure, but we’re focusing on ideas to help the company stay whole.”
Meetings are ongoing with the company as they work on strategies of their own to keep the plant open. The company is forecasting weak sales due to the downturn in the economy.
