Nucor Steel and the MidWest Indiana Economic Development Region hosted a FAM (Familiarization) tour at the company’s thin-slab cast flat rolled steel making facility in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Site selection firms and companies from around the region heard presentations by Nucor Steel and RR Donnelley prior to the facility tour.
Ron Dickerson, General Manager and Vice President of Nucor Steel, praised the community and the region for its business friendly climate and excellent workforce.

Steve Seamans vice President of RR Donnelley said,
 “The MidWest Indiana Region provides our company with a transportation network critical to the delivery of printed materials to our customers worldwide.”
Site selection consulting firms from around the region were invited to attend the tour and become familiar with Montgomery County and other potential regional sites for new companies. Firms from Chicago, Milwaukee and Indianapolis attended the event with county economic development organizations and utility providers. The FAM Tour is a tool used by communities to increase awareness of their development sites and assets.
Bill Henderson, Executive Director of Montgomery County Economic Development (MCED) said,
“ The MidWest Indiana Economic Development Region is very grateful to Nucor Steel for hosting the facility tour,  Nucor is  a great corporate citizen and a perfect example of Advanced Manufacturing.”
Henderson also noted that county officials have just certified over 13,000 acres in the Nucor Steel Campus and Smartsburg I-74 interchange for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) to attract new development.
The MidWest Economic Development partner counties are strengthening regional alliances and collaborating with Industry to assist them in creating new jobs and growth.
